With over 14 years of experience at established institutions such as Raiffeisen and Swiss Life, Jonathan Schmid is one of Switzerland’s leading real estate experts. His move to properti exemplifies a development that is clearly emerging in the industry: away from purely decentralized individual structures, toward a hybrid model that relieves agents through centralized processes, technological support, and clear standards. In this interview, Jonathan Schmid discusses why precisely this framework makes all the difference for him.

The interview with Jonathan Schmid

You look back on 14 years of experience at Raiffeisen and Swiss Life. What was the decisive factor in switching to properti?

Jonathan: My decision was based on a clear strategic perspective. I was particularly convinced by properti’s growth ambitions and its consistent positioning as a PropTech agent to meaningfully further develop existing structures.

In addition, there is the opportunity not only to actively drive my own development, but also to help shape the company. The energy in the leadership team and the complementary strengths of Levent and Adrian [Ed. note: Künzi] further reinforced this step.

Ultimately, what mattered most to me was the opportunity to truly make an impact and contribute tangibly to the further development of the industry.

Many agents are familiar with traditional structures. What convinced you about properti’s model?

Jonathan: For me, the future of real estate brokerage does not lie in a radically new approach, but in the consistent further development of existing models.

The balance between technology and human expertise is the decisive success factor for me. This exact interplay enables properti to make processes more efficient while keeping the quality of advice at a high level.

From a traditional real estate agent to a “Tech Agent” at properti—what does this change feel like?

Jonathan: For me, the change is clearly a new challenge. It deliberately takes me out of my comfort zone, and that is exactly what makes it so exciting.

It is about leaving familiar structures behind and operating in a more systematized environment. But that is also where the opportunity lies: to gain new perspectives and develop both professionally and personally.

How does the digital pipeline at properti differ from traditional processes?

Jonathan: The biggest difference is speed. Traditional, decentralized processes in the industry are often rigid. At properti, everything is designed to simplify workflows while ensuring a high level of quality. When adjustments are needed, the digital approach—especially through central tools like the Agent Portal—makes it possible to respond extremely quickly and implement optimizations immediately. You feel this technological edge in everyday work because improvements do not take months.

How does the combination of technology and expertise change the day-to-day work of real estate agents?

Jonathan: It simply takes the administrative processes off our hands. Technology and the internal operations team provide very tangible support in day-to-day work. Whether it is the automatically generated brochures or notary preparation in the back office—at properti, it all runs smoothly in the background. This leaves more time for what truly matters in real estate: advice, client relationships, and successful closings.

At the same time, the entire company is consistently aligned with agents’ needs. The “Win Together” mindset is tangible from day one. That is exactly what creates the framework to focus more on clients and deals—and generate more revenue as a result.

As an Agent Leader, you are expanding the team in Romandy. What do you look for most in new agents?

Jonathan: I am looking for experienced professionals from the real estate industry who bring an established network and want to proactively scale their business.

In addition to professional expertise, a certain level of technical affinity, strong soft skills, and absolute loyalty are crucial for me. I need people on the team who are hungry, set ambitious goals, and are ready to take full responsibility for their success.

How would you describe your leadership style, and how do you support your team’s development?

Jonathan: I clearly see myself as a leader, not just a manager. For me, that means actively sharing my knowledge and taking the time to train and support my team intensively. I am always accessible to my agents—whether for complex valuations, difficult negotiations, or direct support in client interactions. An important part of my approach is also opening up my own network to the team to offer them real development opportunities.

What are you most looking forward to at properti in the near future?

Jonathan: Clearly, building a truly strong, professional team in Romandy. I am also motivated by the opportunity to actively help shape properti’s regional and national strategy in order to achieve the goals we have set.

It is extremely exciting to experience the company’s rapid development so up close and to drive it forward myself. At the same time, I see a great opportunity in my role to continuously develop personally, gain new experiences, and help others surpass themselves.

Conclusion

Jonathan Schmid sums it up: the real estate market does not need to reinvent itself radically—it is simply becoming more efficient, faster, and more professional. The key to scaling lies in the hybrid brokerage model, which combines solid human expertise with smart technology and centralized processes. For ambitious, experienced agents, properti offers exactly the ecosystem that eliminates administrative effort. Those who take this path regain the freedom to focus 100% on what generates real growth: excellent advice, strong client relationships, and successful closings.

Why are experienced real estate agents switching to properti?

Top performers and experienced agents like Jonathan Schmid are looking for an environment that does not limit their growth through rigid, decentralized structures or administrative burdens. They join properti to become part of a future-oriented, digital platform. The deciding factors are the company’s ambitious growth objectives, the opportunity to act entrepreneurially, and the chance to actively shape their own career as well as the entire industry.

What distinguishes the hybrid agent model from traditional agent structures?

The hybrid brokerage model combines the personal strengths and market knowledge of experienced agents with centralized processes, technological tools, and clear standards. Unlike traditional brokerage firms or decentralized organizations, quality is not dependent solely on individuals, but is structurally ensured and made scalable.

For agents, this means in concrete terms: less friction in day-to-day work, faster processes, more transparency, and more time for value-creating tasks. Technology is not an end in itself, but operational support. This creates an environment in which entrepreneurial freedom is preserved while being backed by a strong system.

How does properti support agents in their day-to-day work?

properti provides agents with a 360° ecosystem that consistently frees them up to focus on what matters. While the Agent Portal and the Operations team handle the administrative heavy lifting in the background—from creating property listings to preparing notary appointments—we actively drive entrepreneurial growth: through direct 1:1 mentoring and hands-on training within the properti academy. Our Growth Community and Culture forms the strong framework. Here, the industry’s best minds exchange best practices at regular internal events and embody the true “Win Together” spirit.

Which agents is properti particularly interesting for?

properti is particularly interesting for experienced real estate agents who already have expertise, market understanding, and their own network and are looking for the next step in their development. Anyone who wants to work more entrepreneurially, take on more responsibility, and at the same time benefit from a professional, centrally supported environment will find the right framework here.

This applies in particular to individuals with high standards for quality, speed, and development. Instead of getting bogged down in operational side issues, they can focus their energy specifically on clients, marketing, negotiations, and closings. This combination of personal responsibility and structural support is what makes the model especially attractive for many experienced agents.
